How to Take Care of Your Skin for Life!

Whether you are a man or woman, young or getting a little older, there are certain steps that you should take every day:

(1) protect your skin’s health

(2) delay or reverse the signs of age

(3) protect your appearance for the rest of your life. 

Below, you will see the daily routine (starting with the morning shower) that I recommend for women and men.  There are slight differences in the composition of male and female skin.  So, the recommended products for each sex are slightly different.

In the Shower

We have a tendency to over-cleanse, which is damaging to the skin’s health and appearance.  Use only gentle natural cleansers and only when necessary.  Warm water and a washcloth is really all that’s necessary.  Twice a month, use our Deep Cleansing Mask, just in case you missed something with your washcloth. 
 
If You Shave

Use a natural lubricant like grape seed oil, instead of a foaming shave cream.  You’ve already washed in the shower.  Shave creams further strip natural oils.

Moisturizing is Essential

Following a shower or a shave, moisturizing is essential.  You have just washed away your skin’s naturally protective oils.  If you didn’t, they would start to smell.  But, you must replenish those oils or your skin’s appearance and health will start to suffer. 

Age Defense Day Cream is an excellent moisturizer for women’s faces.  For men, the Age-defense Active Facial Fluid is the recommended product.  It takes the place of aftershave.  Don’t forget about the rest of your body, too. 

Our Body Lotion is the best on the market.  To further moisturize the area beneath the eyes and get rid of morning bags, we have an Eye Serum for both men and women. 

Your skin can never have too much moisture.  On a biweekly basis, give it an extra treat by using the Deep Hydrating Mask.  
  
Eat Breakfast & Take Some Good Nutritional Supplements

Be sure that your breakfast provides some protein and antioxidants.  Have a cup of green tea, instead of coffee.  The antioxidants in green tea have been shown to help prevent sun damage.  Recommended nutritional supplements include:

• Omega-3 Fish Oil

The two provide all of the nutrients that the skin needs to thrive.

Use Sun-block When Necessary

If you spend more than 10 or 15 minutes per day in direct sunlight, use a zinc oxide sun-block.  Otherwise, avoid products that contain minor sun-screening agents.  They may actually contribute to skin cancer.
 
Before Bed

If you are a woman that wears makeup, you should remove it before going to bed.  Use a gentle cleanser.  If your makeup is difficult to remove, consider switching to a natural brand that washes off easily.  Once the makeup is off, moisturize again.

Sleep Well

Try to get at least 6 hours of sleep every night and try to get to sleep by 11pm.  When your body does not get enough sleep, it produces excessive cortisol, which damages collagen fibers and causes lost elasticity.  Between 11pm and 2am, your body produces human growth hormone, which keeps your skin thick and firm.
